A BondBloxx Alum Returns and a 16-Year BlackRock Vet Joins

A Bay Area ETF startup is bringing back a familiar face and adding a senior distribution veteran.

Robert Stephen Eaton
BondBloxx
Head of Strategic Relationships
BondBloxx is bringing aboard Robert Eaton and Kathleen Cordrey, with Eaton acting as head of strategic accounts and Cordrey as investment platform manager, confirms Brian O'Donnell, co-founder and head of distribution at BondBloxx. Eaton's start date was September 5 and he reports to O'Donnell, while Cordrey's start date was July 31 and she reports to Joanna Gallegos, co-founder and chief operating officer at BondBloxx, O'Donnell tells MFWire. He adds that both positions are newly created at the Larkspur, California-based firm.

Kathleen Cordrey
BondBloxx
Investment Platform Manager
Eaton previously spent more than 16 years with New York-based BlackRock, most recently serving as managing director and head of U.S. business development for Aladdin wealth tech. Cordrey most recently served as chief-of-staff at Miami-based Bungalow.

A spokesperson for BlackRock declined to comment. Spokespeople for Bungalow did not immediately return an email for comment.

Cordrey isn't unfamiliar to BondBloxx, having previously worked for the company as a business analyst while she was pursuing her MBA at the Wharton School, the BondBloxx team shares in a LinkedIn post. Cordrey's familiarity with the business is an important reason why she was hired for the new role, O'Donnell says. As for Eaton, O'Donnell cites the BlackRock veteran's institutional knowledge and 20-plus years of experience.

Before working with Aladdin, Eaton served in a variety of retail distribution and marketing leadership roles at BlackRock. He joined the firm in 2006 after leading retail marketing at MLIM. Earlier, he worked with with McKinsey & Company and Goldman Sachs. He is an alumnus of Harvard Business School, Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, and Princeton University.

Cordrey's past stints include time with Kingdom Supercultures, Goldman Sachs, and RBC Capital Markets. She is an alumna of The Wharton School and Princeton University.
