BondBloxx was founded in 2021 by a BlackRock alumnus, Leland Clemons, along with five fellow BlackRock alumni as co-founders: Joanna Gallegos, Tony Kelly, Mark Miller, Brian O'Donnell, and Elya Schwartzman. The BondBloxx folks lay claim to the firm being the first ever ETF shop focused solely on fixed income.
The BondBloxx team launched the Bay Area firm's first funds — a suite of seven sector-secpfic, passively managed, high yield bond ETFs — in February 2022.
