For its next mutual fund, Pyxis Capital [profile] is reaching beyond emerging markets. Don Salvino, managing director and head of distribution for registered products at the Dallas-based company, confirmed that Pyxis is looking at launching "a frontier markets sovereign debt fund."

"Our goal is not to be be a platform that provides 'me, too' products," Salvino told MFWire.com. "We look for managers who employ somewhat of a unique strategy."

Salvino said that frontier markets sovereign debt is a "very underutilized strategy in the mutual fund space." He declined to reveal further details about the idea, including who might subadvise it.
