  • Background:
    In October 2022, Raymond James rebranded its Carillon Tower Advisers unit as Raymond James Investment Management. Yet the unit's six boutiques are keeping their names, and the asset manager's mutual fund family will remain known as the Carillon Family of Funds.

    Raymond James Investment Management is a multiboutique asset manager and a subsidiary of Raymond James Financial, Inc., a publicly traded broker-dealer. RayJay created the multiboutique in 2016 as the parent of three boutiques. Raymond James Investment Management's first boutique, Eagle Asset Management, traces its roots back to 1976, and it debuted its mutual fund family (now part of the Carillon funds) in 1985.

    Raymond James Investment Management's boutique affiliates include:

    -St. Petersburg, Florida-based Eagle, which offers fundamental equity and fixed-income strategies;

    -San Diego, California-based ClariVest Asset Management, an institutional manager which traces its roots back to 2006 (RayJay first invested in ClariVest in 2012, before taking full ownership in 2019);

    -Toronto, Ontario-based Cougar Global Investments, an ETF strategist (RayJay bought Cougar in 2015);

    -Kansas City, Missouri-based Scout Investments, an equity manager with roots going back to 1982 (RayJay bought Scout from UMB in 2017);

    -Indianapolis-based Reams Asset Management, a fixed income manager with roots going back to 1981 (Reams is Scout's fixed income division); and

    -Berwyn, Pennsylvania-based Chartwell Investment Partners, founded in 1997, which offers U.S. equity and fixed income strategies (RayJay bought Chartwell's parent, TriState Capital Holdings, in 2022).
