A key retail exec left a New York City-based asset management giant earlier this year. In January, Boston-based
Joe Craven left
BlackRock,
MFWire has learned.
Craven most recently served as managing director and chief operating officer of U.S. retail at BlackRock.
A BlackRock spokesperson declined to comment.
Craven
wrote on LinkedIn: "I recently stepped away from BlackRock, retiring from this phase of my career. I am so grateful to BlackRock for eight plus years of opportunity and service, working with truly remarkable colleagues and partners to help more people achieve financial well-being."
He continued, "In over 30 years in financial services, it has been such a privilege to be entrusted with leadership roles in institutional, wealth and retirement. I am now reflecting on how to best live my purpose and add value in the next chapter, and look forward to remaining in contact as this journey continues."
Prior to his work at BlackRock, Craven served as senior vice president and head of North American institutional business at American Century Investments from 2008 to 2011. He was a principal at Aquiline Capital Management from 2006 to 2008, and managing director at Putnam Investments from 1996 to 2005. Craven is an alumnus of Brown University and the Fordham University School of Law.
