At an 84-year-old, $198-billion-AUM (as of May 31) asset manager, an 11-year company veteran will help lead asset allocation.

On Monday,
Aaron Cooper, chief operating officer of
Putnam Investments, and
Rob Schoen, chief investment officer of global asset allocation,
confirmed the
promotion of
Brett Goldstein to co-CIO of GAA. (Schoen will also now serve as co-CIO of GAA.)
Schoen and Cooper also confirmed that portfolio manager
Adrian Chan has been added as a PM to all the GAA offerings. The GAA team manages about $17 billion in assets.
Cooper lauds Schoen's "broad expertise and deep experience" and trumpet's Goldstein's "portfolio construction acumen ... particularly in the target-date investment sphere." Schoen adds praise for Goldstein's "tremendous passion for capital markets, exceptional investing skills and commitment to innovation."
Goldstein will also join Putnam's operating committee. As a PM and analyst, he's been part of the GAA team for more than a decade. He joined Putnam in 2010 after receiving his graduate and undergraduate degrees at Cornell.
Chan rejoined Putnam in 2008, after graduating from Wharton. Prior to that he spent three earlier years at Putnam and earned his undergraduate degree at Harvard.
