Robert Byrd has taken the reigns of City National Bank's Wealth Management Services group, which includes asset management, broker-dealer and trust services.

Byrd will oversee 200 employees based in California and New York City.

The ex-Wells Fargo executive replaces Shelley Thompson, who left City National at the end of the first quarter, said spokesman Cary Walker. At Wells Fargo, Byrd was executive vice president of Private Client Services.

City National's Wealth Management group has approximately $26 billion in assets under management and administration.
