Quick growth has led San Franisco-based Forward Management to hire a chief administrative officer. The sponsor of the Forward Funds turned to a former Nicholas-Applegate Capital Management executive to fill the newly created post.

Jim O'Donnell takes the title of chief administrative officer and will report to Alan Reid, president of Forward Management. Reid described O'Donnell as a "seasoned professional with an outstanding background in investment management" and said that he will help the firm reach the "next level" of its growth.

O'Donnell was most recently an analyst for Meisenbach Capital Management, where he was involved with numerous aspects of their hedge fund including research and stock selection as well as operations, trading and risk control reporting. Before that he spent eight years at Nicholas-Applegate Capital Management as a portfolio manager for the its Large Cap, Mid Cap and Small Cap Wrap portfolios. He began his career as an institutional options trader.
