has appointed John Miller
as its new chief investment officer, confirmed company spokesperson Chris Allen.
Miller takes over from Bill Fitzgerald
, who is leaving the firm at the end of the first quarter. Fitzgerald, a 19-year Nuveen veteran, is departing the company "to explore other opportunities," Allen said.
Miller, a portfolio manager at Nuveen, has been with the company for 11 years. He will continue in his role as fund manager.
Nuveen was taken private by a group of investors led by fellow Chicago-based Madison Dearborn Partners
in a deal that closed in mid-November.
