Pioneer Taps Retail Distribution Chief

Pioneer Investments has a new head of U.S. retail distribution. On Monday the Boston-based fund firm revealed that Joseph D. Kringdon, formerly managing director of Putnam Investments, just joined as EVP in charge of US sales.

A spokeswoman for Putnam told MFWire that Kringdon's duties "have been assumed by the distribution team."

BOSTON - (Business Wire) Pioneer Investments today announced that Joseph D. Kringdon has been named Executive Vice President and Head of U.S. Retail Distribution. In this role, Kringdon will be responsible for managing Pioneer’s U.S. sales team, including key distributor relationships with financial advisors and broker dealers. He reports to Daniel K. Kingsbury, President and Chief Executive Officer of Pioneer Investment Management USA Inc.

Kringdon joins Pioneer Investments from Putnam Investments, where he was a Managing Director and held various roles including National Broker Channel Director and his most current, as Regional Director of Sales in the East. “Joe brings proven results and leadership to the Pioneer sales team,” said Kingsbury. “He is a well respected manager, and his many years of experience as a Branch Manager, Sales Manager and Financial Advisor give him valuable insights into the needs of our sales partners. We are pleased that he is joining Pioneer,” Kingsbury added.

Kringdon began working at Putnam in 1999. Prior to Putnam, he worked at Smith Barney and a predecessor company, Drexel Burnham Lambert, most recently as Senior Vice President, Branch Manager in Albany, NY and Sales and Branch Manager in the Boston office. He was also a branch manager in the New York City office of Smith Barney. He also worked at Merrill Lynch, where he was a Vice President and Mutual Fund Coordinator. He graduated “Cum Laude” from College of the Holy Cross in 1980 with a B.A. in English.
