Thursday's WSJ Fund Track
reports on a Van Kampen
portfolio manager's trek to another business silo. Jim Gilligan
, portfolio manager for several Van Kampen funds, will be transitioning to product development. He will also serve as an advisor to the equity-income team. This is an interesting decision for Gilligan because Van Kampen's parent, Morgan Stanley
, has put more of a focus on developing alternative investment products than equity products. Also, the portfolio side of the business is usually a more lucrative career path, unless Morgan Stanley is grooming Gilligan for future career decisions.
The Fund Track column also includes a different take on Vanguard's share split for three of its ETFs. To read the MFWire
