It is not a new lease on life, but it is a ray of hope for beleaguered giant Merrill Lynch. Eliot Spitzer, New York State's Attorney General, and the firm have agreed to extend their talks until May 16 and thus postpone a court hearing scheduled for tomorrow, according to an article in The Boston Globe
. The AG was looking into issues surrounding conflicts of interest at the fund company. He is even threatening criminal charges.
