How do you stay on the path to saving and retirement? Follow that guy in the green line suit! That's the comedic theme of the just-chosen winner of Fidelity's "Be the Green Line" video contest.
In January Fidelity opened the contest, tying in with the ubiquitous new "Turn Here" Fidelity ad campaign (featuring, of course, a green line). Last week the Boston-based mutual fund titan named Michael F. from California the winner of the $5,000 prize. Michael's video drives home the savings theme, featuring a young woman who is repeatedly tempted by a man dressed up a giant red line costume. The red line offers dresses, desserts and a vacation, but the ad's heroine resists each temptation to spend thanks to support from her companion, a man dressed up in a giant green line costume.
