Michael Sapir has landed a head of distribution for the ProFunds product line. The Bethesda, Maryland-based fund firm has signed on Donald Roberson as managing director reporting to Sapir, who is chairman and CEO.

Roberson will oversee all distribution channels for both the ProShares ETFs and the ProFunds mutual funds.

He was most recently at Lincoln Financial Group, where he was head of distribution for the Employer Markets Group. In that role he was part of the leadership group that set strategy for the distribution, product development, marketing and branding for Lincoln products.

Lincoln filled Roberson post in September 2009 (he left in mid-year 2009) by hiring former MetLife executive John C. Kennedy as head of retirement solutions distribution (see The 401kWire, September 1, 2009). Earlier in his career was at John Hancock/Independence Investments where he was director of distribution for managed accounts. He also spent time at Mutualfunds.com/PFPC, Funds Distributor, BlackRock, Reich & Tang and Prudential-Bache Securities.
