Columbia Management [see profile] has two new mutual funds in the works for 2011, one powered by
Threadneedle. Last Friday the
Ameriprise subsidiary filed to create the
Columbia Commodity Strategy Fund and the
Columbia Flexible Capital Income Fund [
see filing].
The MFWire could not immediately reach a Columbia spokesman for comment.
Both funds are tentatively scheduled for launch 75 days from filing, i.e. mid-July, pending SEC approval. Columbia has not yet unveiled pricing for either fund.
The commodity fund will be sub-advised by another Ameriprise subsidiary,
Threadneedle, with
David Donora and
Nicolas Robin PMing and
Daniel Belchers as deputy PM. It will offer I and W shares only.
Columbia's own
David King and
Yan Jin will PM the income fund, which will offer A, C, I, R and Z shares.
Columbia will serve as the funds' transfer agent, administrator and distributor.
JPMorgan will provide custody services.
