A DWS Wholesaler Heads in a New Direxion

Reported by Neil Anderson, Managing Editor

Direxion [profile] just hired a new wholesaler focused on selling its buy-and-hold alternative offerings through advisors. Today the Beantown leveraged index mutual fund provider revealed the addition of Angelo Pirri as senior regional director in the Northwest.

Pirri previously served as senior vice president at DWS [profile]. He also worked with Credit Suisse Asset Management, Julius Baer Investment Management, Merrill Lynch Investment Managers (now part of BlackRock), SunAmerica and Transamerica Asset Management. MFWire.com could not immediately reach a DWS spokesman for how Pirri's duties are being handled.

Based in San Francisco, Pirri now covers Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, northern California, Oregon, Washington State and Wyoming. He reports to John Cadigan, national sales manager, who joined Direxion in the fall [see MFWire, 9/26/2011]. Cadigan put the new hire in the context of Direxion's efforts to amp up distribution of its alternative investments.

"His expertise aligns perfectly with Direxion's commitment to empower a growing number of advisors and their clients to employ alternative investment strategies historically used more exclusively by large institutions," Cadigan stated.
