ear Stearns has named Francois Trahan
managing director and chief investment strategist. He starts today and will report to Kay Booth
, senior managing director and head of global equity research. Trahan was hired to develop fundamental investment strategy for the firm's institutional and high-net-worth clients.
The former Brown Brothers Harriman
strategist is stepping into a position left vacant by the departure of Liz MacKay
last year. A spokeswoman for Bear Stearns confirmed that MacKay left Bear Stearns to attend law school.
"Francois has earned a reputation for detailed and thoughtful analysis by using proprietary methodologies to approach research and investing," said Booth. "It's this type of one-of-a-kind analysis that Bear Stearns has prided itself on."
At Brown Brothers Harriman, Trahan also developed tradable strategy recommendations by combining fundamental, quantitative and macroeconomic strategic inputs. Previously, he was a strategist at Ned Davis Research Group, where he covered international equity markets and co-authored Ned Davis' monthly asset allocation publication.
