del Rey Boosts Its Sales and Research Operations

Reported by Irene Park

del Rey Global Investors [profile] has built out their sales and marketing and global equity teams with four new hires.

According to a press release, the Los Angeles-based investment manager — which offers the Monarch Fund mutual fund — has brought in VPs Dean Phillips to head up national sales and marketing and Dennis McCarthy to direct institutional sales. Phillips will focus on sales to broker/dealer separately managed accounts, wrap fee programs and UMAs. McCarthy will work in conjunction with Northern Lights Capital Group, del Rey's strategic and institutional distribution partner on areas including consultant, institutional and sub-advisory, as well as non-U.S. business development for del Rey.

"Dean and Dennis have more than 40 years of financial services industry sales and marketing experience between them," stated COO Gerald Wheeler of del Rey. "They've already proven themselves to be great additions to our team as we continue to work to educate the marketplace about our strategies and products."

Meanwhile, the firm is also welcoming research analysts Benjamin Herrick and Dack LaMarque for their global equity team.

del REY GLOBAL WELCOMES TWO NEW INVESTMENT PROFESSIONALS

New hires arrive shortly on the heels of a similar expansion of the firm's sales and marketing group

LOS ANGELES, (July 26, 2012) – del Rey Global Investors, LLC, ("del Rey") an asset management firm investing primarily in international and global equities, today announced the addition of two new research analysts to their global equity team, Benjamin L. Herrick, CFA, and Dack LaMarque, CFA.

"We're very pleased to add two analysts of Ben and Dack's caliber," said Paul J. Hechmer, Founder and Chief Investment Officer of del Rey (www.delreyglobal.com). "Their experience and expertise will be of great service to our team and our clients as we continue to increase the depth and breadth of our research coverage."

Prior to joining del Rey, Mr. Herrick was an equity analyst with Relational Investors, where he focused on investments in the technology sector. He started his investment career in 2004 at Trust Company of the West (TCW) where he was promoted to Vice President and lead Analyst covering the basic material and industrial industries for that firm's U.S. Equities Research Department.

Mr. Herrick received an M.B.A. from the UCLA Anderson School of Management and a B.A. from Claremont McKenna College. He holds the professional designation of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

Prior to joining del Rey, Mr. LaMarque worked as a senior associate at Theorem Capital, a Los Angeles-based private equity firm, where he was responsible for deal execution and due diligence. He also held positions with Audigy Group, Capital Group and LaMarque & Associates. He earned a B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and an M.B.A. from The Wharton School. Mr. LaMarque also holds the CFA designation.

These additions to the firm's analyst team follow a similar expansion of del Rey's sales and marketing group, which recently welcomed Dean C. Phillips as Vice President, National Sales and Marketing, and Dennis McCarthy, Vice President, Institutional Sales.

Mr. Phillips is primarily focused on sales to broker/dealer separately managed account programs, wrap fee programs, UMAs, and other key investment platform channels.

Mr. McCarthy, in conjunction with Northern Lights Capital Group, del Rey's strategic and institutional distribution partner, is responsible for consultant, institutional, sub-advisory, insurance, Taft-Hartley, foundation & endowment, and non-U.S. business development for del Rey.

"Dean and Dennis have more than 40 years of financial services industry sales and marketing experience between them," added Gerald W. Wheeler, Chief Operating Officer of del Rey. "They've already proven themselves to be great additions to our team as we continue to work to educate the marketplace about our strategies and products."
