Neuberger Takes Over a $900M Book

Reported by Tommy Fernandez

The Neuberger team is about to take over a $900-million book of business. High net worth shop Glickenhaus & Co. [profile] is handing off its asset management business to Neuberger Berman [profile].

According to both companies, Glickenhaus & Co. manages approximately $900 million in client assets for high net worth individuals and non-profit institutions. PM responsibilities will transition to Neuberger Berman's Straus Group, led by senior partner Marvin Schwartz. The Straus Group currently manages approximately $11 billion of client assets. Glickenhaus and the Straus Group share a similar investment philosophy as value investors seeking strong long-term results, while aiming to protect client capital.

Glickenhaus & Co. PMs Seth Glickenhaus, James Glickenhaus and Al Feinman will serve as senior advisors to the Straus Group, although direct management of client accounts will be at the sole discretion of Neuberger Berman.

A spokesperson at Neuberger declined further comment on the deal beyond the language of the press release.

Neuberger has been on the ascent since it broke in the years since the 2008 Financial Crisis. From 2003 to 2008, Neuberger was wholly-owned by the failed Lehman Brothers. The Financial Crisis of 2008 gave Neuberger employees a chance to buy back 51 percent in 2008, followed by the rest of the equity in 2011.
