A Fund Shop's Market Appreciation Surpassed Its Net Inflows in 2012

Cohen & Steers had a decent 2012.

For the year ending Dec. 31, 2012, the firm saw $5.04 billion in gross inflows, and $3.497 billion in gross outflows, for net inflow of $1.543 billion.

Meanwhile, the firm’s assets saw market appreciation of $1.757 billion, leading to a total net increase of $3.3 billion.

The firm now manages $12.489 billion in assets. It currently markets 11 mutual funds and two ETFs. Its strategies are focused on global real estate securities, global listed infrastructure, real assets, large cap value stocks and preferred securities. The company also manages alternative investment strategies for qualified investors such as hedged real estate securities portfolios and private real estate strategies.
