A spokeswoman for Deutsche declined to comment for this story.
Woods first joined the German multinational's U.S. mutual fund arm four years ago as head of distribution, and he went on to oversee non-investment functions (sales, marketing, administration, etc.) as CEO of DWS U.S. Prior to DWS he held executive roles with Evergreen Investments, XTF Global Asset Management and Legg Mason.
Woods' departure comes after Jerry Miller took over
Deutsche Asset and Wealth Management Americas (which includes DWS) this spring and as Brian Binder joins
Deutsche as president of DWS Funds and head of fund administration in the U.S. Both Miller and Binder previously held top positions at Van Kampen.
As for U.S. sales, that currently falls under the purview of Joe Sarbinowski
, head of the institutional global client group in the Americas for Deutsche Asset and Wealth Management.
