Morningstar has named a new head of alts research, Josh Charlson, to replace Nadia Papagiannis, who had left to join Goldman in January.

Charlson is a 24-year veteran at Morningstar, previously serving as a strategist in the research firm's fund of funds research team.

He had this to say about the future direction of the alts research team.

"The alternatives research team will continue to apply Morningstar’s qualitative Analyst Ratings and analytical process to cover the largest and most influential alternative mutual-fund strategies, and to help investors better understand alternatives through educational articles and research pieces. We don’t currently have any plans to do anything significantly new or different," he said.
