As Schroders Does a U.S. Deal, Two Distro Execs Shift

Reported by Neil Anderson, Managing Editor

A top Schroders [profile] distribution executive is moving on, and another is shifting.

MFWire has learned that Carter Sims, formerly head of U.S. intermediary distribution at Schroders, is leaving the publicly-traded, British multinational asset manager, while North America institutions chief Marc Mayer shifted this month to head of distribution. Sims' departure and Mayers' shift come as Schroders North America CEO Karl Dasher is doing a deal with Hartford Funds that will effectively take non-institutional mutual fund distribution in the U.S. out of Schroders' hands.

MFWire could not reach Sims for comment.

"As part of the partnership with the Hartford Funds, the overall distribution of the Schroders mutual funds will be serviced and managed by Hartford Funds, therefore eliminating this position within Schroders," Schroders marketing manager Jennifer Brogadir tells MFWire.

Brogadir adds that the Schroders team "is still managing the distribution" of the funds "through the transition with Hartford funds," expected in the September-October timeframe.

Sims is an alumnus of Boston College. Prior to joining Schroders in 2006, he worked at BofA and Columbia (which was then owned by BofA), Villanova, and Fidelity.

Mayer is an alumnus of both Yale and Columbia. He previously worked at Squibb, Sanford Bernstein, and AB, and he also spent two years as CEO of GMO. He joined Schroders in 2014.
