Russell Mourns a "Leading External Voice"

News summary by MFWire's editors

The team at Russell Investments [profile] is mourning a 13-year company veteran who passed away last week.

New York City-based Stephen Wood, chief market strategist at the Seattle-based manager of managers, died of a heart attack on June 5 while vacationing with his family, a Russell spokesman tells Pensions & Investments. Wood was 51 years old.

The Russell spokesman reportedly called Wood a "leading external voice for the firm on the economy, capital markets and portfolio strategies."

"His impact and influence on colleagues and our clients globally was immeasurable," the spokesman reportedly added.

Stephen P. Wood graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1988, earning his bachelor's degree in history, international relations, and political science. He continued to study political science, earning a master's in the subject at Iowa State University and then a PhD in international political economy at Claremont Graduate University.

Wood worked at the Milken Institute in the late 1990s before shifting to asset management, working at AllianceBernstein, Fisher Investments, and Manning and Napier before joining Russell in 2005 and moving to New York.
