Only one fundster ranks among the 100 top CEOs, at least according to one publication.
BlackRock's [
profile]
Larry Fink sits in the #34 spot on
Harvard Business Review's just-released 2018 list of the 100 "Best-Performing CEOs in the World" (down from 32 last year). Fink is the only U.S. fund firm chief on the list, which is topped this year by Spain's Pablo Isla of Inditex.
Yet there are three other fundster-adjacent names on the list.
Bruce Flatt of Toronto-based
Brookfield Asset Management ranks 60th. (Brookfield recently ramped up its U.S. mutual fund presence via
acquisition.) And
Andre Desmarais and
Paul Desmarais Jr. of Montreal-based
Power Corporation (the ultimate parent of Putnam) share the 90th spot on the list.
According to the publication, the ranking is "based primarily on financial returns over each CEO's entire tenure."
