A mutual fund industry trade group focused on marketing and communications is preparing to recognize industry stars.

Last week, the team at the Investment Management Education Alliance (IMEA) officially opened up their 2022 IMEA STAR Awards for entries. This year's awards will be the 26th annual ones from the trade group. Entries are due by August 1.

"With an increased focus on broader integrated strategies compared to previous years, we're building upon STAR Awards' legacy of honoring best-in-class efforts," states Kimber Lintz, director of the IMEA. "Now, receiving a STAR Award represents a higher level of excellence than ever before."

Indeed, fundsters familiar with the Star Awards may notice that the category list is a bit slimmer this year. Matthew Smith, a client engagement manager at IMEA, confirms that they've trimmed the number of categories down to 14, from more than 25 in 2021.

"We're keeping the program fresh," Smith tells MFWire.

Winners of IMEA's Star Awards are traditionally honored at an awards dinner in Chicago in the fall.
