3Y In, a New England Leader Exits ProShares

Reported by Selma Khenissi, Reporter

A veteran fundster in Beantown is leaving a fund firm near Washington, D.C. after three years.

Steve Vanourny is moving on from ProShares [profile], MFWire has learned. At the Bethesda, Maryland-based asset manager, Boston-based Vanourny served as managing director, head of product development, strategy, and corporate development.

A spokesperson for ProShares declined to comment.

"I had a great experience leading a number of areas of the firm, including product development. During my time there we grew from $60b to $100b in assets, and our team launched over 25 new ETFs — most 'first-of-their-kind' — that amassed nearly $4b in a short period of time," Vanourny writes in a LinkedIn post. "It was a great learning experience at a leading, innovative firm in an industry that's experiencing a next generation moment of growth. I'm very grateful for my time there, and the many colleagues from whom I learned so much."

"I'm taking a little time off to figure out the next chapter, enjoying that rarest of things we can find in the middle of a career — some downtime to reflect and relax," Vanourny adds. "To kick that off, Krista and I just completed a five-week 'mid-life loop' road trip that covered 8,000 miles, took us through 25 states, and luckily, zero car breakdowns."

"Stay tuned for what's next. In the meantime best wishes to my many friends and former colleagues here who I don't keep in touch with enough!"

Vanourny first joined ProShares in 2022. Before then, his past stints include time with Continuum Capital Managers, State Street, Partners Capital Investment Group, McKinsey & Company, Stamos Associates, Inc., and Booz Allen Hamilton. He is an alumnus of Harvard Business School and of Dartmouth College.
