In Boston, an MF ESG Chief Exits After 3 Years

An ESG executive is leaving a Massachusetts fund firm's senior leadership team after more than three years.

Jackie VanderBrug is leaving Franklin Templeton’s [profile] Putnam Investments, MFWire has learned. Somerville, Massachusetts-based VanderBrug served as head of sustainability strategy at Boston-based Putnam.

"Jackie VanderBrug departed Putnam effective January 23. We thank her for her many contributions and wish her the best in her future endeavors," a Franklin spokesperson writes to MFWire. "Leadership responsibilities for Putnam's ESG efforts are being assumed by our existing sustainable investing and stewardship teams to ensure continuity of our approach."

"Putnam remains committed to sustainable investing, ESG integration, and active stewardship across our investment platform," the Franklin spokesperson adds. "As a Franklin Templeton company, Putnam also benefits from Franklin Templeton's firmwide sustainability resources and governance framework."

"I'm deeply grateful for this remarkable group of collaborative investors and colleagues who made the work both meaningful and fun," VanderBrug writes in a LinkedIn post.

VanderBrug first joined Putnam in 2022. Before then, her past stints included time with Bank of America, U.S. Trust, Criterion Ventures, Good Capital, Work In Progress, iBasis, and CSC Index, and she has also worked with Heading for Change and the Aspen Institute. She is an alumna of the University of Michigan Stephen M. Ross School of Business and of Calvin University.
