Baron Capital Management has named a new skipper for its
Baron Fifth Avenue Growth Fund. According to an announcement on the firm's Web site,
Randall Haase will become portfolio manager of the $134 million fund effective May 1, replacing
Mitch Rubin, who is leaving with
Morty Schaja, Baron Capital's president and chief operating officer, to form a hedge fund venture.
Hasse, a 17-year industry veteran, joins New York-based Baron Capital from hedge fund Duquesne Capital Management. He previously worked for Alliance Capital Management.
In addition to the Fifth Avenue Growth Fund, Rubin also managed the $154 million
iOpportunity Fund. Baron Capital earlier announced that
Mike Lippert will succeed him in that role.
