The annual Lipper Fund Awards were again held at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in New York City Wednesday night. This year, the Lipper/Reuters folks switched it up by inviting hedge fund managers to the party.
In it's third yearly fête, Lipper attracted a total of 256 people.
Fundies from far and wide came to collect their shiny glass awards which were presented with the usual panache. The only glitch in the ceremony was an amusing mis-pronunciation of "Janus" by the host.
This year, Lipper also added the element of surprise to the awards ceremony by presenting awards by asset category instead of alphabetically. The big winners of the evening were
American Funds, taking home the award for best large fund group, and
Waddell and Reed for best small fund family.
After the awards ceremony came to an end, fundies filed into the dining room for the usual buffet complimented by stunning views of central park. Though many guests opted leave after the awards ceremony for dinner out on the town.
