Pioneer Seeks a New CFO

Pioneer Investments has appointed Anthony Koenig to the new role of senior administrative officer of its U.S. Division. Koenig was previously senior vice president and chief financial officer at Boston-based Pioneer.

A Pioneer spokeswoman told The MFWire that the firm is interviewing candidates for the CFO post.

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Pioneer Investments today announced that Anthony J. Koenig, Jr. has been named Senior Administrative Officer in the U.S. Investment Division. A Senior Vice President, Mr. Koenig previously served as Chief Financial Officer of the U.S. Division. As a member of the global investment staff, he will support Kenneth J. Taubes, Head of Portfolio Management, U.S., and will coordinate and implement global investment projects.

Mr. Koenig said: “This new role is a tremendous opportunity for me to expand my experience in the industry by helping to manage the operations of a large investment team. I’m looking forward to working with Ken and portfolio managers at Pioneer as we develop new investment capabilities and continue the global integration of our investment teams in the U.S., Europe and Asia.”

Mr. Koenig’s responsibilities include playing a key role in coordinating the team structure of the U.S. portfolio management group and supporting ongoing global investment integration. He also will be involved in establishing policies and procedures for the department. He represents the Head of Portfolio Management, U.S. on various committees and manages a wide range of activities of the U.S. equity and fixed income portfolio management teams and trading. Mr. Koenig will work directly with the Global Investments Chief of Staff in Milan to coordinate and implement global investment projects and initiatives throughout the investment organization.

Mr. Koenig has 22 years of experience in accounting and finance in the investment industry. He joined Pioneer Investments in 2001 as Vice President and Corporate Controller of the U.S. Division. He was named Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in 2005. Prior to joining Pioneer, he was Assistant Vice President and Corporate Controller at Manulife Financial where he managed the day-to-day accounting operations of the company’s U.S. Annuity division. Prior to that he worked for First Variable Life Insurance Company where he served as Vice President and Treasurer after being promoted from Assistant Controller. Mr. Koenig also held management positions at Ernst & Young and First International Life Insurance Company, after beginning his career at KPMG Peat Marwick. Mr. Koenig is a two-time graduate of Bentley College where he received a Master of Science in Corporate Finance in October 2005 and a B.S. in 1986. He is also a Certified Public Accountant.
