AllianceBernstein tapped
John Howard as its new chief financial officer. Company spokesman John Meyers confirmed that Howard is replacing
Robert Joseph effective immediately.
Joseph will remain with AllianceBernstein as a senior advisor until he retires at the end of the year.
Before joining AllianceBernstein, Howard served as CFO and COO of Greenwich, Connecticut-based
AQR Capital Management.
AQR spokesman Brian Maddox said the firm is currently delegating several of Howard's former functions to senior partners, and is still considering options for his replacement with an internal or external candidate. Maddox said the firm watched Howard go with "mixed emotion."
Howard's last day at AQR was March 15.
