For years, Jack Bogle has been a fixture at the ICI's General Membership Meeting. His retirement from Vanguard in 1999 has not stopped him from turning up at the conference, where he's seen roaming the exhibit hall, attending sessions and lunches and networking with peers in the hallways.

Last week, however, fundsters did not have a Bogle sighting at the conference held at the Marriott Wardman Park in Washington, D.C. Bogle's name appears on the attendee list, though.

A source familiar situation said Bogle had planned on attending but canceled a week before the GMM. The source did not say why Bogle decided not to go.
