Closed-end fund assets hit $146 billion in the second quarter, up $3.3 billion from the first quarter. The new stat is courtesy of the Investment Company Institute, which released its initial closed-end fund report this morning.

The ICI plans to release the closed-end fund information on a quarterly basis. The report tracks 508 closed-end funds, currently. The majority of the funds (394) are bond funds and 114 are equity funds.
