The celebration of 20 years of ETFs continued this weekend as the
New York Times got into the spirit, publishing a
lengthy piece detailing the history of exchange traded products and getting into what they offer investors today.
Reporter Paul Sullivan starts by telling the story of how the
SPRD S&P 500 ETF got started back in 1993, and how the entire industry grew from that first fund.
From there, Sullivan notes the advantages ETFs offer consumers: low fees and no tax distribution, namely.
