An Alt Fund Brings on Two SubAdvisors

Reported by Tommy Fernandez

And then there were two.

Less than two months after narrowing down its list of contestants, Simple Alternatives has found two sub advisors for its multi-manager, long/short equity S1 Fund (SONEX).

The fund announced that it has hired Bruce Garelick of Garelick Capital Partners and Alexander Fodor of Sonica Capital to serve as the new sub advisors.

“Bruce Garelick and Alexander Fodor are both very impressive long/short equity managers,” stated Simple Alternatives founder and chief executive James Dilworth. “We believe their unique styles will greatly complement our existing team of managers for the S1 Fund.”

He previously managed the long/short technology portfolio at Adage Capital Management The investment process at Garelick Capital Partners is reportedly driven by a meticulous bottoms-up fundamental research process which allows them to focus on stock specific ideas while not being macro dependent or focused on short term volatility.

Meanwhile, Alexander Fodor is the chief executive and chief investment officer of Sonica Capital, a New York-based long/short equity fund.
