ETFs are revving up, like a Camaro about to hit the highway.

But there could be at least five speed traps that could slow down this investing Camaro, Barron's reports.

Brendan Conway takes a gander at a new report published by PricewaterhouseCoopers, titled The Next Generation of ETFs: Why Every Asset Manager Needs an ETF Strategy.

Conway notes that speed bumps include retirement market rationale; lack of technical understanding, structural impediments to active ETFs, operational risks, and regulatory hurdles.
