Will Danoff just did something that no
Fidelity [
profile] PM since
Peter Lynch has done; Danoff just
starred in a commercial.

Tim McLaughlin of
Reuters reported on the new television commercial, which was slated to debut yesterday.
Back in 1998, Lynch starred in a Fido TV ad campaign with Lily Tomlin. That was eight years after the end of his 13-year, 29-percent-returns-per-year run PMing
Fidelity Magellan.
Danoff is already getting famous for PMing the
Fidelity Contrafund, which he has run for more than 25 years. And unlike Lynch, he's still PMing.

The
Reuters article puts the ad in the context of the fight by Fido and others to get the word out about the value of long-term, active asset management. Indeed, Danoff has racked up a strong long-term track record running the Contrafund, and the ad is all about long-term results: it features a letter that two parents sent Danoff in 1993 when investing in the Contrafund in their 529 for their then-one-year-old son; that letter is taped to the glass in Danoff's office.
