Last week was a big week for Gundlach and his team at
DoubleLine Capital [
profile]. He
appointed a deputy chief investment officer, expanded into the Land of the Rising Sun, and hit 12 figures in AUM.
Barron's,
Bloomberg, and
Reuters all reported on the news.
DoubleLine's new deputy CIO is another Jeffrey,
Jeffrey Sherman, a quantitative PM who leads DoubleLine's macro asset allocation team. Like Gundlach himself and many other DoubleLine employees, Sherman is a TCW veteran who has been with DoubleLine since the beginning six and a half years ago. He is also an alumnus of the University of the Pacific and of Claremont.
DoubleLine also reached $100 billion in AUM, on May 31. And the firm launched DoubleLine Investment Management North Asia (DIMNA) in Tokyo, with
Kauhiro Okamura leading business relations for the new unit.
