In this newly created role, Sims will be responsible for leading the sales and distribution efforts across the company’s institutional, intermediary and international lines of business.
“This is an exciting opportunity to lead the sales and distribution efforts for such a respected firm as Thornburg,” stated Sims. “I am looking forward to working with the Thornburg team to help drive our strategic direction and enhance both our domestic and international presence.”
Jason Brady, president and CEO of Thornburg tells
MFWire, "Carter was the best candidate, he was my number one choice for the job."
Before this role was created, distribution channels ran separately at Thornburg. Now, Sims will oversee all three collectively.
"It is very important to have a singular message to clients," said Brady. "It became more evident that consolidation is required."
Until last summer, Sims served as head of U.S. intermediary distribution at
Schroder Investment Management, a position he held since 2006. His departure followed a deal between Schroder and
Hartford Funds, that removed Schroder's involvement in U.S. distribution of non-institutional mutual funds.
Sims has been involved in the industry since 1988, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Boston College.
He is also a board member for the
Malvern Prepatory School, and a fundraiser for other educational organizations.
