As a T. Rowe Nat Accounts Chief Rises, a Legg Vet Joins

Reported by Katherine Robertson

A publicly traded mutual fund giant's B-D national accounts chief is on the rise, and a veteran from a nearby rival is joining to take her place.

Annie Whitescarver Brown
T. Rowe Price
Head of USI's Broker-Dealer Distribution
The U.S. Intermediaries (USI) business at T. Rowe Price is undergoing some recent changes in leadership. Sean Mackley, who most recently served as head of U.S. national accounts at Baltimore-based Legg Mason, joined T. Rowe (also Baltimore-based) as head of broker-dealer national accounts. This role was previously held by Annie Brown, who is rising to head of USI's B-D distribution.

Darrell Oliver, a spokesperson for Legg Mason, was not immediately able to comment.

In his role, Mackley will oversee T. Rowe Price's B-D national accounts team. He is based in Baltimore, and reports to Brown. Brown, also based in Baltimore, reports to the head of wealth management, Tom Morelli. Morelli served as head of USI B-D distribution until last October.

"As an industry veteran who has spent nearly two decades in institutional sales and national accounts, including holding senior roles at Legg Mason, [Mackley] comes to T. Rowe Price with tremendous experience," Kim Francois, spokesperson for T. Rowe Price, tells MFWire. "We are excited to have Sean join our experienced national accounts team and the perspective he brings."

Prior to T. Rowe Price, Mackley spent twenty-three years at Legg Mason. (In February, Legg Mason unveiled a deal (still pending) to be acquired by Franklin Templeton.) In addition to his most recent position at Legg Mason, Mackley also served as head of wealth management and consultant/client service and head of consultant relations and client service. He earned his BA in Business/Economics from Randolph-Macon College.

Before her current position, Brown held several other roles at T. Rowe Price, including marketing manager and consultant relations manager. Brown graduated cum laude from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor's in economics.
