15 Execs Rise At a $210B-AUM Firm

15 executives are on the rise at at a 90-year-old, $210-billion-AUM (as of June 30), employee-owned mutual fund firm in the Garden State.

Last week, Doug Sieg, CEO and managing partner of Lord, Abbett & Co. LLC [profile], unveiled the appointment of eight new Lord Abbett partners and seven new managing directors. The appointments took effect on October 1.

Lord Abbett's eight new partners include: Adam Castle; Chris Gizzo; Sue Kim; Yoana Koleva; Rory Melick; Mike Naughton; Kearney Posner; and Greg Shuman. The seven new managing directors include: Sarah Ali; Jeff Herzog; Eric Kang; Samantha Shevins; Mila Skulkina; Megan Vega; and Drew Willey.

Sieg lauds the new managing directors and partners for "the breadth of their contributions and depth of their commitment and impact."

Shuman, a 12-year Lord Abbett veteran, now serves as partner and portfolio manager in the firm's tax-free fixed income team. He is an alumnus of Harvard.

Posner, a seven-year Lord Abbett veteran, now serves as partner and portfolio manager on the taxable fixed income team. She previously worked at MetLife, Radian, Goldman Sachs, and PaineWebber. She is an alumna of the Wharton School and of Georgetown University.

Naughton, a 10-year Lord Abbett veteran, now serves as partner and chief operating officer for client services. He is an alumnus of Colgate University.

Melick, who has been with Lord Abbett for four years, now serves as partner and head of human capital management. He previously worked with PwC, Toll Holdings, and National Australia Bank. He is an alumnus of the University of New South Wales and of the University of Sydney.

Koleva, an 11-year Lord Abbett veteran, now serves as partner and portfolio manager on the taxable fixed income team. She previously worked at Morgan Stanley and BlackRock. She is an alumna of the College of Saint Elizabeth.

Kim, a seven-year Lord Abbett veteran, now serves as partner and director of global and emerging market equities. She previously worked at Harbor Bridge Capital Management, Asian Century Quest Capital, and Citigroup Global Markets. She is an alumna of Harvard Business School and of Stanford University.

Gizzo, a 14-year Lord Abbett veteran, now serves as partner and deputy director of leveraged credit. He is an alumnus of Cornell University.

Castle, a seven-year Lord Abbett veteran, now serves as partner and portfolio manager on the taxable fixed income team. He previously worked at Credit Suisse and AllianceBernstein. He is an alumnus of Cornell University.

Willey, a 12-year Lord Abbett vetera, now serves as managing director and head of product strategy. He is an alumnus of Colgate University.

Vega, who joined Lord Abbett last year, now serves as managing director and chief storyteller. She previously worked with KPMG and as a TV news anchor. She is an alumna of UMass Amherst.

Skulkina, a nine-year Lord Abbett veteran, now serves as managing director and portfolio manager on the taxable fixed income team. She previously worked at Sanders Capital, Bain & Company, Relational Investors, and Merrill Lynch. She is an alumna twice over of UCLA.

Shevins, a five-year Lord Abbett veteran, now serves as managing director research analyst, and portfolio manager on the equities team. She previously worked with Visium Asset Management, Trellus Management, and Lehman Brothers. She is an alumna of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Kang, a seven-year Lord Abbett veteran, now serves as managing director and portfolio manager on the taxable fixed income team. He previously worked at MidOcean Credit Partners, Bell Point Capital Management, Citadel Investment Group, Merrill Lynch, and Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette. He is an alumnus of the University of Virginia's Darden School of Business and of the Wharton School.

Herzog, a nine-year Lord Abbett veteran, now serves as managing director and portfolio manager on the taxable fixed income team. He previously worked with Oxford Economics and BBVA Compass. He is alumnus of the University of Cambridge and of Yale University.

Ali (nee Vennekotter), who joined Lord Abbett three years ago, now serves as managing director and chief operating officer of investments. She previously worked at Pimco, MetLife, Moody's Investors Service, and MSCI. She is an alumna of New York University and of the University of Notre Dame.
