The folks at an employee-owned, 49-year-old, $20.8-billion-AUMA (as of March 31), 192-employee, value-focused asset manager in Southern California are preparing to enter the ETF space.
On Friday, the
Brandes Investment Partners [
profile] team
filed to launch what would be the San Diego-based firm's first three exchange-traded funds: the
Brandes International ETF, the
Brandes U.S. Small-Mid Cap Value ETF, and the
Brandes U.S. Value ETF. All three funds will be actively managed and will be series of the
2023 ETF Series Trust. (The filing also includes details about another planned 2023 ETF Series Trust ETF launch, but from a different asset manager, as
previously reported.)
The filing reveals no expense ratios, ticker symbols, independent accounting firms, or primary listing exchange for the three planned ETFs. Brandes Investment Partners, L.P. will be the funds' investment advisor.
The PM team for the Brandes U.S. Value ETF will include:
Brent Fredberg, director in the investments group and voting member of the global large cap investment committee;
Ted Kim, director of the investments group and voting member of the global large cap investment committee;
Kenneth Little, managing director of the investments group and voting member of the global large cap and all-cap investment committees; and
Brian Matthews, director of the investments group and voting member of the global large cap investment committee.
The PM team for the Brandes U.S. Small-Mid Cap Value ETF will include:
Chris Duncan, director of the investments group and voting member of the small-mid cap investment committee;
Michael Hutchens, director of the investments group and voting member of the all-cap and small-mid cap investment committees; and
Greg Rippel, director of the investments group and voting member of the small-mid cap investment committee.
The PM team for the Brandes International ETF will include:
Jeffrey Germain, director of the investments group and voting member of the international large cap investment committee;
Amelia Maccoun Morris, director of the investments group and voting member of the international large cap investment committee;
Shingo Omura, director of the investments group and voting committee of the international large cap investment committee;
Luiz Sauerbronn, director of the investments group and voting member of the international large cap and small cap investment committees; and
Brent Woods, CEO of Brandes and voting member of the international large cap investment committee.
The planned funds' other service providers will include: Goldman Sachs'
GS ETF Accelerator as ETF launch and operations consultant to Brandes; Bank of New York Mellon (
BNY Mellon) as administrator, custodian, dividend disbursing agent, and transfer agent;
Foreside Fund Officer Services, LLC as chief compliance officer provider; and
Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP as counsel.
