Burke and Genoni Expand Their ETF Lineup to 8

Reported by Neil Anderson, Managing Editor

The team at a $600-billion-AUA*, private equity-backed asset manager is rolling out three additional ETFs. That boosts the fundf firm's total ETF lineup to eight funds, seven months after the Southeastern fund firm entered the space via a triple launch.

Kate C. Burke
Allspring Global Investments
CEO, Board Member
Yesterday (July 8), Kate Burke, the familiar new CEO of Allspring Global Investments [profile], and Rick Genoti, Allspring's ETF initiative chief and global head of product development and innovation, unveiled the launch of the Allspring LT Large Cap Core ETF (ALRG on the NYSE Arca), the Allspring SMID Core ETF (ASCE), and the Allspring Ultra Short Municipal ETF (AUSM). Charlotte, North Carolina-based Allspring Funds Management serves as the new funds' investment advisor, while Allspring Global Investments, LLC serves as subadvisor.

AUSM, ASCE, and ALRG's inception date was Monday (July 7). ALRG's expense ratio is 28 basis points, and it now has $2.6 million in AUM**. ASCE's expense ratio is 38bps, and it now also has about $2.6 million in AUM**. AUSM's expense ratio is 18bps, and it now has about $15 million in AUM**.

AUSM's lead portfolio manager is Nick Venditti, head of municipal fixed income at Allspring. The new ETF's PM team also includes fellow muni fixed income senior PMs Bruce Johns and James Randazzo.

ASCE's lead PM is John Campbell, a senior PM on Allspring's systematic core equity team. Another PM on that team, Vince Fioramonti, is also a PM on that fund.

ALRG's lead PM is Neville Javeri, head of Allspring's empiric LT equity team. Another empiric LT equity team member, Matt Wittmer, also PMs that ETF.

The Allspring team notes that the three new ETFs are each powered by longstanding strategies with track records of 10 years or longer.

Burke puts the launch of ALRG, ASCE, and AUSM in the context of investor demand for "differentiated strategies for their active management allocation."

"The LT Large Core and SMID Core equity ETFs both use proprietary investment strategies that have held up across multiple market cycles, in part because they have evolved over time to reflect changing market dynamics," Burke states. "The Ultra Short Municipal ETF is designed with the goal of providing a higher all-in yield compared with taxable alternatives at a time when investors are concerned about falling short-term rates."

Genonin says the three launches followed "a deep assessment of client needs, Allspring's capabilities, and the broader market opportunity."

"I'm particularly excited we can bring one to market that can serve as an attractive cash alternative," Genoni states. "'AUSM' only begins to describe a product that can deliver after-tax yields that may compare favorably with many alternative short-term fixed income options."

ALRG, ASCE, and AUSM are each actively managed series of Allspring Active ETFs, and ALRG is also non-diversified. The new ETFs' other service providers include:
  • Allspring Funds Distributor, LLC as distributor;
  • KPMG LLP as independent accounting firm; and
  • State Street Bank & Trust Company as custodian, dividend disbursing agent, fund accountant, and transfer agent.

  • *As of March 31, 2025.
