Merrill Lynch is looking to boost its brokerage business targeting high-net worth investors, reports

"We're looking at a variety of ways to grow our company and obviously we have the capital to do that," James Gorman, executive vice president, told Reuters.
Merrill Lynch is a "natural consolidator" in the business, said Gorman.
Investors with Merrill's 14,000 advisors generate an average of $720,000 in revenue.
