Guinness Atkinson was founded in 1993 as Guinness Flight Global Asset Management. The same year, they established their U.S. division, known as Guinness Flight U.S. The first U.S.-based funds were launched in June 1994.
Guinness Flight was acquired by Investec in 1998. Investec exited the market in 2002, and investment managers from both the London and U.S. offices of Guinness Flight founded Guinness Atkinson Asset Management. By April 2003, the newly independent mutual fund company assumed full management of the Guinness Atkinson Funds.
The Guinness Atkinson fund family focuses on themes of global transformation.
