On July 17, 2012, OppenheimerFunds [profile] unveiled a deal to buy SteelPath.
Gabriel Hammond founded SteelPath Fund Advisors in 2009 and is the portfolio manager for the mutual fund since its opening in 2010. Stuart Cartner is also a portfolio manager for the fund.
Hammond started his career at Goldman Sachs before founding hedge fund Alerian Capital Management in 2004.1 Alerian specializes in making investments in oil and natural gas pipelines through master limited partnerships (MLPs). The SteelPath MLP Fund follows a similar investment strategy.2
