Background:

Six years after forming an institutional research firm called Leuthold Group, Steve Leuthold
launched an investment adviser called Leuthold and Anderson Inc. in 1987.
The firm later rebranded to Leuthold Weeden Capital Management.
Steve Leuthold is the largest shareholder. Weeden & Co. owns a portion of the firm and the rest is owned by Leuthold Weeden Capital Management employees.
The company entered the mutual fund business in 1995 and currently operates a family of eight no-load mutual funds.
In October 2011, Steve Leuthold passed the chief investment officer baton to Doug Ramsey and also relinquished his co-portfolio manager duties on the Leuthold Funds and most separate accounts.
