  • Background:
In July 2021, AMG unveiled a deal to buy a majority stake in Parnassus, a deal that will see founder Jerome Dodson and his family exit their holdings in the firm. Yet other partners at Parnassus will retain significant stakes under the deal, which closed in October 2021.

Jerome L. Dodson started Parnassus Investments in 1984 with $300,000 in initial seed capital. The company (which is 100-percent owned by current and former employees) offers responsible investment funds.

In 1984, the firm unveiled its debut fund, Parnassus Fund. The company now runs a total of five mutual funds, in addition to SMAs.
