Khateeb Lateef launched his eponymous investment management shop in 1974. Lateef Investment Management emphasizes a concentrated portfolio with an absolute return, long-term, bottom-up fundamental perspective.
Lateef launched its first and (as of June 2012) only mutual fund, the Lateef Fund, on September 6, 2007. The shop also offers separately managed accounts.
The shop is 89 percent employee-owned and 11 percent owned by Rosement Investment Partners, which bought its stake at the end of 2008. As of June 2012, the four biggest stakes are held by Lateef CEO Ryan Willson (21.7 percent), chief operating and compliance officer Justus Leachman (17.58 percent), managing director and PM James TarkentonScott Chapman (12.8 percent).
